Turning Back
The era of you,
Was my era of Blue.
I was heartbroken,
and lonely too.
The miles stabbed,
painstakingly jabbed.
At what I had become,
and what I had.
Living around your call.
The days started to stall.
Life was stuck in slow motion,
To make me suffer it all.
Now when I go to turn back,
To the days that seem black.
The depression sets in my mind,
Flanks my defenses and begins to attack.
From what turned from lust,
Then beautifully merged to trust.
Now lays dead in my past.
Nothing more remains but dust.
I meant what I said.
I'll love you until I'm dead.
Not in the same way of course,
The way that went to my head.
You have a chapter in my life,
Through all the pain and strife.
My memories of you linger on,
They pierce my mind like a knife.
I'm learning to trudge on.
Now that your love is gone.
I'll learn to love and trust again,
To once again be loves pawn.
